Basque Museum
and the history of Bayonne

The renowned museum of the Basque Country.

Situated in the historic centre of Bayonne, the Basque Museum is the largest ethnographic museum of the Basque Country.  2000 objects and works of arts are displayed in close to 20 rooms. 

 

The collection began in 1922 and testifies to the unique Basque identity, the role of this society and traditions as well as the important function of the Bayonne harbour in the XIX century. 


More than a visit, it is a beautiful voyage.

    except Monday and holidays

    Free admission the first Sunday of each month

    In July and August from 10am to 18:30 every day

    FREE night from 18:30 to 21:30 on Wednesdays

    (access to the museum is closed 15 minutes before closing)
